Sometimes called Fresh-water Bass. Found in all the Great Northern Lakes ; also in Champlain Lake, Oneida Lake, and other lakes ; also in the Upper Hud-son and other rivers of the interior of New York State. Rock Bass favor shallows and the outlets of brooks. Usual weight, half to one and a half pound. They are fair game and bite freely. Of common occurrence.Are taken with squids and artificial bait; also with crawfish, Shiner, clam, and grasshopper.
