Part employed. - The dried root as imported from Jamaica.

Characters. - Boots not thicker than a goose-quill, generally many feet in length, reddish-brown, covered with rootlets, and folded in bundles about 18 inches long; scentless; taste mucilaginous, feebly bitter, faintly acrid.

Preparation. - Tincture, using proof spirit.
