Gelatine suitable for casting trusses should be of good quality, costing Is. to Is. 6d. per lb. Soak the sheets in a bucket of cold water till soft, and then melt in, a vessel surrounded with water like an ordinary gluepot, adding sufficient water to make the mixture just thin enough to pour easily and yet enter into all the small details of the ornament. The gelatine must not be used too hot, or it will stick to the mould, however well the latter may be oiled. Allow the can to become sufficiently cool to be handled without discomfort before using.
