Have you ever tried to make your own paper dolls? It is much more fun than buying a set all ready to cut out. Look through the fashion part of a magazine and select pictures of people who are standing-separated from the other characters on the page so they will be easy to cut out. As you cut each doll, if an arm is resting against her dress, (like in the picture), cut around the part that lies on her skirt. Then when you put a dress on her, the arm will slip over it.

Paste the doll on a heavy piece of paper, or cardboard, then cut it out a second time-making her strong so she will not tear easily.

To make clothes for the doll, lay her on a piece of white paper and draw around the dress she is wearing-begin at the neck and stop at the hem. Do not draw the legs or head-unless you are making snow pants, or a hood. When you lift up the doll, you will have the pattern size of your dress. Draw in the neck line and the sleeves, and trim with a collar, pockets, belt etc. Paint or crayon it any color you like.

If you want hats, draw around the top of your doll's head, from ear to ear. When you have drawn the brim of the hat, you cut a line from the ear to ear mark, and through this you can slip the dolls head.- Dresses are held on by tabs drawn at the shoulders. (See illustration.)

Play Money

The next time you want to play store, make some play money to use. Save all the silver tin foil paper that comes around gum, candy, or food. This is what you will need to make the money.

Put a coin under the paper, and rub it with your finger. You will find the printing on the money raises the paper with the letters and figures, and when you cut out the coin, you have drawn this way, you will have an exact copy of the real money.

Paste it on a piece of heavy paper-or cardboard-and make a copy of the back of the coin the same way. Paste this to the back of the play money, and you will find it looks so much like the coin you copied, you will be surprised.

This can be done with nickels, pennies, dimes, quarters, and fifty cent pieces. If you make enough of it, you will have the right money to make change with your customers in playing store.
