It has been already seen4 that a husband is liable for necessaries furnished the wife. Under the head of necessaries are to be included such reasonable supplies of dress and ornament as are suited to the station of the family.5 Maintenance of children, when left to the wife's care, falls under this head ;6 and such is the case with proper furniture;7 and proper service;8 and the legal expenses in well-founded legal proceedings against himself.9 Medical attendance on the wife during sickness,10 and her funeral expenses,11 fall under the same head.
