Dogs occasionallv have this, due to a vegetable parasite. It is a round, scaly patch, very contagious, and also due to dirty, damp kennels, but could be communicated to the dog from a child who was playing with it. The best treatment is a little of the ointment of iodide of iron, well rubbed in twice a clay, prepared as follows: 1 dram of iodide of iron to 7 drams of spermaceti ointment; mix. My Skin Cure will also cure this trouble. Another remedy is yellow oxide of mercury, 15 grains, and benzoated lard, 1 ounce. Another is oleate of copper, one part to lard four parts, which will cure it up.
