The principal, who might also be called the employer or master, is the person from whom the authority to act is derived; he is the appointing person, represented by the agent, acting under the authority conferred by the principal. The principal is therefore the person who is bound on the contract in law, whenever the contract is made on his behalf by his representative, the agent.
