A codicil is a supplement to a will, or an addition made by the testator, and annexed to, and to be taken as a part of, a will, by which its dispositions are explained, added to, or altered.19

A codicil revokes the will to which it is annexed pro tanto. Codicils require the same formalities in their execution as wills.
