In some states there are statutes which require that the female involved shall be corroborated before a conviction can be had, but this extends only to the promise of marriage and sexual intercourse.126

This corroboration may be shown by circumstances, such as her association with the accused, going to church or other places together, by love letters passing between them, and the like.127 And of course such corroboration must be given by other evidence than by that of the female involved.128
