By construction of the statute, the relationship of brother and sister includes brother and sister of the half-blood.55 And this crime may be committed where the relationship is illegitimate, as by a father cohabiting with his illegitimate daughter.56 In some states incest may be committed between a man and his stepdaughter,57 and between a stepmother and stepson.58 The term daughter imports an immediate female descendant, and does not include step-daughter, daughter-in-law, or adopted daughter.59
