The amount of commission due a broker on any transaction may be fixed by a definite agreement between the parties. In the absence of an agreement, custom prevails. The rates established by a real estate board are often evidence of the customs of the business in a particular locality. Schedules of charges approved by some of the boards are quoted at length in the appendix.28
