In 1919 an Act was passed in Michigan providing for the licensing of real estate brokers and salesman,2 and as amended in 1921, makes it compulsory for any person, firm, partnership, association, copartnership or corporation doing business as a chance broker, real estate broker or real estate salesman to first obtain a license.3

The Act does not apply to any person who is the owner of the real estate, or to any person holding a power of attorney from the owner for the purposes above mentioned, or to include the services in any way rendered by an attorney at law in the performance of his duties as such attorney at law, or to any receiver, trustee in bankruptcy, administrator or executor, or person selling under order of court.4
An application for license must be made in writing to the Michigan Securities Commission at Lansing, Michigan, on forms prepared by the Commission, as follows:
