Let us assume that we are going camping for seven days. Will more be needed if we go for fourteen days? To use this check list do the following:

(1) Check your food lists in order to see what you need to cook during the period.

(2) Select your equipment on the basis of need for cooking certain items as found in (1).

(3) Check number of each required, depending on number of Scouts going to camp. If cooking is done on Patrol basis use left set of columns. This means EACH Patrol will need number indicated. If on a Troop basis, the number means for whole Troop. The "sizes" will be different too, as indicated.

(4) Check these lists individually and discuss by Patrols, or fill it out as a Patrol project without prior individual work. The individual work comes when you go out on your own camp.

(5) Suggestions will be found in the Scoutmaster's Handbook, Pages 685 and 726. Also Patrol Leader's Handbook, Pages 320-321.

(6) Even if on Patrol basis these may be items that still should be taken on a Troop basis. Indicate these in Troop columns.

Patrol Cooking Gear

2 cooking sets (two 6-qt. pots, two 4-qt. pots, two frying pans.) Nesting, in two bags.

1 Axe

1 Spade

1 Canvas water pail 1 piece of Oilcloth 1 First Aid Kit

1 Kitchen bag containing: 1 bread knife, 1 ladle or big spoon, 1 can opener, 1 dish mop, 1 salt shaker, 1 pepper shaker.

6-8 Dustproof provision bags for flour, sugar, salt, oatmeal, cereal, dried fruits, beans, rice

3 Waterproof and Fat-proof provision bags for fresh meat, smoked meat fish.

2 Aluminum Containers for butter, marmalade, or jam.
