Try to tell what most is used to show in each of these sentences:
1. Most of the girls came.
2. She spilled most of the milk.
3. That is the most beautiful pansy I ever saw.
It is not correct to use most in the place of almost in the following sentences. Try to think of some other word that might be used.
1. It is almost dark.
2. Almost all of the seeds sprouted.
3. She is almost sick.
4. Aren't you almost ready?
5. I almost forgot.
Most is used to tell how many or how much, or to express degree; but almost should be used instead of most to mean nearly.
Write five sentences in each of which you use almost.
Write two sentences to illustrate each of the three uses of most.
