Rhubarb, 5 drachms.
Aloes, 3 drachms.
Cardamom, 2 drachms.
Brandy, 16 fluidounces.
Mix the drugs and reduce them to a coarse powder, and macerate this in the brandy for fourteen days, stirring the mixture thoroughly each day, then filter. (Edinburgh Pharmacopoeia, 1770.)
