Characters. - Twigs densely covered with minute imbricated oppressed leaves in 4 rows; odour strong, peculiar, and un-pleasant; taste acrid, bitter, resinous, and disagreeable.

Time for collecting. - April and May.

Preparation. - Tincture, corresponding in alcoholic strength with 40 O.P. spirit.
