Three scant cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup molasses, 2 eggs, 1 cup fruit, 1/2 cup cold coffee, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon allspice, 1/2 teaspon cloves, 1 teaspoon soda,
Two quarts of flour mixed into a soft dough with lukewarm milk; add 4 or 5 teaspoons Brewers' yeast and let it raise. Add 3/4 cup sugar, 3 eggs, piece of butter size of an egg and a little more flour; then 3 or 4 more spoons of yeast and a little salt. Let it raise again in the tin in which it is baked. Spread a little melted butter or cream over the top; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and bake.
One small tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon lard, 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup milk, 1 egg, and flour enough to make like cake (about 1 pint), and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder. Put into shallow pan and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, chopped nuts (either walnuts or almonds), and small pieces of butter. Will bake in about 10 minutes.
