Found in wet meadows, swampy places. A deadly poison contained in its fleshy roots. New Brunswick to Virginia and westward.

Flowers

White, tiny, in thin, flat clusters terminating branches, 3 - 6 feet high.

Leaves

Compound, leaflets toothed. Plant stem marked with purplish lines.
