Found in dry woods. Florida and Arizona, northward into British Possessions.

Flowers

Crimson and yellow, somewhat variable, about 1/2 inch long, slightly fragrant, borne in drooping clusters (which become erect later), terminating stem 4 - 12 inches high.

Leaves

None. Stems clustered, scaly, arising from a mass of fibrous roots.
