Found in woodlands or mossy, rocky places. Newfoundland to Florida, west to Kentucky, Minnesota and the Northwest.

Flowers

White or pink tinted, 5-lobed, fragrant, in clusters at the ends of the woody, creeping branches 6 - 10 inches long.

Leaves

Oval, rounded at the base, old leaves more or less rusty spotted.
