Found in low, moist ground. New Brunswick to Ontario and southward.

Rich, deep red, lower lip 3-lobed, in somewhat 1-sided spike terminating stem 2 - 4 feet high.

Leaves

Dark green, oblong to lance-shaped, slightly toothed, upper leaves stemless.
