Question 815. - Is it legal to protest a note at one o'clock on Saturday? Are we not bound to wait till three as on other days?

Answer. - A protest cannot be made on any day till three o'clock. This does not in any way conflict with the bank's right to close its doors at one o'clock. The notary might present a cheque at ten in the morning, and, if then dishonoured, he would do his full duty, if he simply held it till three o'clock and thereafter completed the protest without further presentation.
