An interval in music that expresses the octave of the Greeks. This term is likewise applied to the rule or scale whereby musical instrument makers adjust the pipes of organs, and cut the holes of hautboys, flutes, etc. in due proportion, for performing the tones, semi-tones, and concords, with precision.
