Artillery, in its most extended sense, is applied not only to the guns, projectiles, powder, carriages, etc. used in warfare, but to the men employed in working them. Military engineering, however, not according with the object and scope of this work, the information afforded therein on the subject of artillery is confined to the construction of the most improved Fire-arms, Guns, Projectiles, etc. which see under their separate heads.
