A bag of the size of a bed, divided into several compartments, and rendered air-tight by a composition, of which caoutchouc, or Indian-rubber, orms the greatest part. This bag may be inflated by bellows, a syringe, or any other means, and is furnished with stop-cocks to retain the air or let it out at pleasure. These beds will be found extremely convenient to travellers, especially in warm climates, from their portability, and not being liable to vermin; also to invalids, from their perfect elasticity, which may be regulated at pleasure by an attendant, without disturbing the occupant.
