Herewith is an illustration of a device for pulling towards each other the spokes of cart and carriage wheels. This dispenses with the lever and other tools used in some methods of doing this work. Having fitted the spokes and holed the felloes to suit, tie the ends of about a yard of tough cord about 3/8 in. in diameter to form a ring, which is slipped over two spokes, and then twist this with the handle of a hammer until the spokes come to position. Then by a piece of lath, as shown in the figure, keep them up as long as required; by removing the hammer and undoing the running knot the appliance is ready for another pair.
