Ammoninm tartrate is made by neutralising a solution of tartaric acid with ammonia and then evaporating to dryness. Potassinm phosphate may he obtained by adding carbonate of potash to a solutiou of acid phosphate of lime (superphosphate) until it ceases to effervesce. The precipitate is filtered off and the liquid evaporated until the salt crystallises out. The apparatus required would be wooden tubs or vats, a large wooden frame with cotton stretched over for filtering, a large shallow pan, and a boiler or fire for evaporating the solution.
