In painting wire blinds, use very thin colour, made with turps and a little gold size; stipple the blind all over directly it is coated, •so as to remove the superfluous colour. The space to be gilded should be tilled up with dry white-lead mixed with gold size and turps. A little dry whiting dusted on the gauze will prevent the gold leaf sticking.
