A recipe for making ammonia soap is the following. Take 100 parts of oil and fat, 10 parts of caustic potash, 8 parts of 1c soda, and 5 parts of strong ammonia. The amount of water and the strength of the lyes will depend on the process employed; it will not be satisfactory to make the soap by the cold process and boil it afterwards unless making simply a soap jelly.
For the cold process the lye is at 66 Twaddell, and 101b. of water would be required, but for boiling add move water; the ammonia must be added after the has cooled somewhat.
