Gilt bronze ware, if greasy, should be dipped in a hot solution of caustic potash, washed in hot soapsuds, and rinsed in clean water. If not greasy, dip in a mixture of 10 parts of nitric acid, 1 part of aluminium sulphate, and 40 parts of water, and then rinse in clean water.
