Compromises are favored in law probably more than any other class of contracts.1 A striking instance of this favoritism is the determination of the courts to find a consideration in the forbearance of an imaginary non-existent right.2 Especial indulgence is shown to family compromises intended to prevent litigation concerning estates.3
