A very fatal form of heart disease. The pulse is perceptibly irregular and feeble. A post-mortem will show the valves thickened, and may present upon their surfaces granulations which feel under the finger like minute particles of sand. Treatment is of no avail; but to prevent sudden death all undue excitement should be avoided.
