It sometimes occures in fighting that the eyeball is forced out of its socket, and the lid, contracting, prevents its return. I cannot recommend the amateur to attempt to return the eyeball to its place, but the veterinary surgeon should be sent for, and in the meantime a small stream of lukewarm water should be kept running onto the part to keep the muscles relaxed as much as possible, to facilitate the necessary operations in returning the eyeball to its place.
